In March of 2020, Ringtail moved “home” under the tightening grip of a global pandemic. When it became clear that the pandemic would not be around for “just a few months,” we let go of our old office and saddled ourselves with the idea of becoming remote workers for the foreseeable future. Four years later, however, we popped the champagne to celebrate the grand opening of our brand-new professional haven in Solna, Stockholm, with a fantastic party for a fantastic new space.
Want a glimpse? Come on in!
A backlit Ringtail Interactive logo cut out from a wooden board, providing the perfect backdrop for our new reception desk.
We had a lot to consider when it came to the search and design for our new digs. Of course, you want a space that people would love to step into, so to start off, we created a mood board to help portray a workspace that embodies the essence of coziness and warmth, and a workspace that is Ringtail at its core: innovative, inviting, and dynamic. The mood board helped set the tone for a space where comfort and modernity go hand in hand.
Envisioned to be a comfortable and inviting space for our team, we’ve incorporated a warm color palette, rich textures, and natural elements like wood and marble to foster a welcoming atmosphere. Among the warm yet muted colors, we also thought a pop of lime green would add life and energy into the space. In collaboration with the interior design firm, May Studio, our first concept evolved into an environment tailored to our needs.
A warm color palette, rich textures, and energizing accents of green are all evident in our cozy common area.
The design not only captures Ringtail’s spirit but also prioritizes functionality. From a more practical standpoint, soundproofing was a key aspect, ensuring that each workspace offers tranquility amidst the buzz of creativity. To accomplish this, soundproofing panels were installed in the main work area’s ceiling, and in the ceilings in the meeting rooms. We also included gorgeous decorative sound panels made from oak and blackwood slat in various key points throughout the office.
As is quite common in Swedish office culture, outdoor shoes are left at the reception (guests are, of course, excused). Putting our favorite slippers or indoor shoes on helps to keep the office a clean and pleasant working environment.
In two of the meeting rooms, we have fabric-covered sound panels (the same fabric that was used for the workstation dividers) and the remaining three rooms have art-printed sound panels that reflect each of Ringtail’s key teams: Lemur, Games, and Team Three. We also installed blackout curtains in the meeting rooms and in the entire main work area so everyone – but especially our artists, for color consistency – can enjoy glare-free screens!
Finally, the finesse: this is Sweden, one of the countries with the highest coffee consumption in the world, which meant we had to have a fabulous coffee machine. It’s the beating heart of an office! Our top-of-the-line coffee machine stands at the center, ensuring the smooth flow of both java and conversations over a hot mug.
Good coffee and even better company guaranteed at the new Ringtail office!
Of course, we needed games – we are a gaming company, after all – and two big screens to properly showcase them. Comfy couches, consoles, and a library of hits ensure there’s always something to do when our team needs a break and wants to disengage.
Finally, we infused our space with greenery, further enhancing the everyday work experience for all Ringtailers.
So, with the opening of our new office, whatever happened to our remote work policy? Did we force everyone to return? No, of course not! Flexibility remains important to Ringtail Interactive as a company. In fact, the office was never intended to host all of its employees at the same time (aside from company parties, naturally). Many of us are still fully remote, while some come in once or twice a week, and others use the office almost every day.
In short, our lovely office is a space that was not just built, but thoughtfully crafted for productivity, collaboration, and innovation, and it will always available for our employees to use as much or as little as they need!
Come and see us sometime!
Games and color-matched controllers – we’ve got ‘em!
